Precise Pleaders

Engagement & Process

Clear engagement · Transparent fees

The chambers believes in clarity from the first conversation — both about strategy and about cost. Every engagement is recorded in writing before work begins.

The Engagement Path

How the chambers takes on a matter.

A simple, predictable six-step process — from first call to closure.

  1. 01

    Initial enquiry

Reach the chambers by WhatsApp, phone or email. A short conversation establishes the broad nature of the matter, the urgency and whether the chambers can assist.

  2. 02

    Consultation

A scheduled consultation — at the chambers, by phone or by secure video — to review documents, hear the facts and discuss options. A consultation fee is agreed in advance.

  3. 03

    Written engagement

If the chambers takes on the matter, terms are recorded in writing — scope of work, fee structure, billing schedule and out-of-pocket expenses.

  4. 04

    Strategy & action

Pleadings, applications, appearances and negotiations are taken forward as agreed. Clients are kept informed at each material stage.

  5. 05

    Periodic review

Strategy is reviewed at key milestones — orders, listings, settlement opportunities — to keep the engagement aligned with the client's objectives.

  6. 06

    Closure & handover

On disposal or settlement, a closing note summarises the outcome, advises on next steps (appeal / execution / compliance) and returns originals where applicable.

Fee Models

Common fee structures used by the chambers.

The right structure depends on the matter. The chambers proposes the model best suited to the nature, complexity and likely duration of the engagement.

Consultation Fee

A one-time fee for an in-depth review and considered opinion on a matter — including review of documents and a written note where required.

Brief / Drafting Fee

A fixed fee for drafting a notice, opinion, contract, plaint, written statement, bail application or other defined deliverable.

Per-Hearing Fee

A fee charged for each appearance before a court, tribunal or authority, generally with a minimum number of hearings agreed up-front.

Engagement Fee

A composite fee for taking up a matter in entirety up to a defined milestone (e.g., disposal at trial stage), with terms recorded in writing.

Retainer

A monthly or annual arrangement for businesses requiring continuous advisory support — contracts review, compliance, dispute response and routine legal questions.

Project Fee

A milestone-linked fee for defined transactional work — due diligence, contract suites, regulatory filings or arbitration through to award.

In line with Bar Council of India rules, fees are not advertised on this website. Indicative fees are shared on request, after the nature and scope of the matter are understood.

Engagement FAQ

Common questions about fees and engagement.

  • Is the first consultation free?

No. The chambers charges a consultation fee. This ensures every matter receives focused, considered review — and that the advice you receive is genuinely tailored to your facts. The exact fee is shared on enquiry.

  • Why are fees not published as fixed numbers?

As per Bar Council of India rules, fees cannot be advertised. Indicative fees are shared on request, after the nature, complexity and scope of the matter are understood.

  • Can I pay in instalments?

For larger engagements, the fee is typically structured around milestones or hearings, which itself amounts to a payment plan. Specific arrangements can be discussed in the engagement letter.

  • What happens if the matter settles early?

Engagement letters always specify what is payable at each milestone. If the matter settles before later milestones, only fees up to that point are payable, plus any agreed settlement-handling component.

  • Are court fees and other expenses included?

No. Court fees, e-filing charges, certified-copy costs, process fees, travel for outstation appearances and similar out-of-pocket expenses are billed at actuals, separately from professional fees.
